Could someone sell your property without you knowing? Property Fraud - What you need to know.

Property fraud is on the rise — particularly for empty homes, rentals, and absent landlords. The warning signs and the free Land Registry Property Alert service that detects suspicious activity.

Property fraud is on the rise but now you can do something about it. Last week two fraudsters were jailed for trying to auction a property not owned by them. By stealing the owenrs identity they managed to get the deeds changed and then placed the property up for auction. Luckily in this case the owners daughter was an estate agent and noticed the property listing on Rightmove. To counter act this problem the Land Registry as set up an alert service to notify you of any activity on your property.
